Dear fellow friends of Shollenberger Park,

We want to sincerely thank you for your support and your assistance in this campaign to save one of the most unique environmental treasures in California. The response to this cause has been phenomenal and we are confident that with several more days of tireless awareness-raising and constant communication to the County Supervisors we can convince this board that Dutra's proposed Asphalt plant at Haystack Landing is the Wrong Plant and the Wrong Place!

We would like to invite each of you to a shindig we are hosting this Saturday from 4-6pm at our campaign headquarters in Petaluma. We have had so many volunteers contribute their time, energy and money to this cause and this gathering is a celebration of all your efforts. Please see full details for the event below. We are in the final hour and your help is vital to the success of this effort. Please pass this email on to everyone you can. Let's build a sustainable community together.

Also let's not forget who is going to decide our future. The five members of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors hold the fate of Shollenberger Park and our clean air in their hands. Please continue to email them and express your opinions about this proposal. Please see their email addresses below. Be sure to use the subject line provided as this will ensure your voice is made part of the permanent record. This past Monday, our Petaluma City Council had the courage to vote unanimously to send a powerful letter to the County Supervisors demanding this proposal be denied. Let's all follow their lead and together we can show the County and the State that Petaluma demands a healthy and sustainable future.

Lastly, please attend the County Board meeting in Santa Rosa this Tuesday at 2pm. The Supervisors will be passing the final judgment on this matter, and we need at least three votes on our side. They will be hearing public comments prior to voting so please join us and show your support against this Asphalt plant. Regardless of whether you speak or not, there is strength in numbers and your presence will make all the difference. Thank you!

Come to the City Council Meeting Tomorrow Night

The City Council will be discussing the question of sending a letter to the Board of Supervisors regarding the current Dutra proposal. (Because the park is outside of city limits, the decision to move forward with the current proposal is up to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.)

Please join the Friends of Shollenberger at this meeting! Come and let them know how you feel about this proposal. Ideally, your comments should be passionate, yet clear, with personal stories about use of the park, business location, impacts to health, etc.

Surely, the County can and must do better than this proposal, or it should be rejected."Fix it; prevent navigational hazards; or reject it!"

Please arrive at 8:30 PM. The agenda is full, and this is an estimated time that the Dutra asphalt project will be discussed. Complete meeting agenda can be found at: http://petaluma.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=3&event_id=28

Please spread the word! This is an open meeting and everyone's voice needs to be heard!

Meeting Details:
